The accounts behind your website and listings are part of your business, the same as the keys to the building. Wherever a service allows it, they should be in your name, with your email address, and you should be able to sign in.
The ones that matter most
- Your domain name. It’s your address on the internet and where your email is pointed. Losing it is the hardest thing to undo.
- Your Google Business Profile and other listings.
- Your Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Your booking, ticketing or point-of-sale system.
- Your website’s hosting, or at least a copy of its content.
How to check
For each one, ask: can I sign in myself, and is it under my business’s email? If you’re not sure where your domain is registered, look for a renewal email or a charge on your statement. If you can’t find it, we can help track it down.
